Chopsmith Privacy Note

Effective 12 October 2026 · applies to Chopsmith 1.0.1

Short version: Chopsmith works on your Mac. Your music, your projects and what you do in Chopsmith never leave it. The only thing Chopsmith sends over the internet is a licence check.

What Chopsmith sends, and when

Only when you activate your licence key, and when it re-checks the licence (about every two weeks, and only if the internet is available), Chopsmith sends a request to Polar (polar.sh), who sell and manage Chopsmith licences for us. That request contains:

Polar answers with whether the key is valid and the email address it was bought with, which Chopsmith shows as "licensed to ...".

The demo never contacts anyone. Chopsmith has no analytics, tracking or crash reporting. The "Buy a licence" button only opens Polar's checkout page in your web browser.

What Chopsmith keeps on your Mac

None of these files are sent anywhere. Delete them at any time; deleting the Application Support folder just means you'll activate again.

Your purchase

When you buy Chopsmith, Polar (the merchant of record) processes your payment, email address and billing country under its own privacy policy (polar.sh/legal/privacy-policy). We see your email address, country and order in our Polar dashboard, and use your email only for your purchase, support, and important notices about Chopsmith. We don't sell or share it.

To free a Mac or see your activations, use the customer portal link in your purchase email. To have your purchase records deleted, email us; we'll ask Polar to do the same where the law allows (some records must be kept for tax purposes).
